About Us

AKKA (Australian Korean Karate Association) Karate Perth is an Australian division of EKKA (English Korean Karate Association) Karate established in 1973 under the leadership of President Mick Blackwell 9th Dan and Vice President Billy Brennan 8th Dan. The AKKA are current members of the Western Australian Karate federation (AKFWA), Australian Karate Federation (AKF) and world Karate federation (WKF).  The only Karate governing bodies recognised by the Australian Sports Commission & the IOC (international Olympic Committee)

 

Since the club started in February 2012 not only have we grown in size we have also grown in strength, as well as producing many local competition medallists, we have also produced.

Kelvin Boar

Kelvin now a 4th Dan Black Belt started training with the EKKA at the age of 10 under Mick Blackwell. Kelvin has competed in the British and English Championships in team Kumite and was in the first EKKA men’s team to win the British team title overcoming some of the best male teams in Britain. A title that kelvin & the EKKA team went on to defend 3 times.

Kelvin is now bringing the style, techniques and attitude of the highly reputable EKKA to Australia with AKKA Martial Arts.

 

 

 

Kelly Williams

Kelly started training at the age of 14 with 3 of her brothers under Mick Blackwell. Achieving her 1st Dan black belt at the age of 21 she is from a large family of martial artists including her brothers, sister, mum and uncle.

 

Kelly has successfully competed  at English and British level competitions in Kumite events for individual and team categories. Winning 3x Silver English medals and 3x Bronze British Medals

 

Kelly is now Western Australian state team assistant coach and Ex member of the Western Australian and National Australian karate teams.
